About Us.
The club was founded in May 1934 and known then as Greenacres Bowling Club. It is thought that the club played their first games in the gardens of Greenacres, the home of Mr Ingamells on the Alford Road.
In 1936 the club changed greens to the grounds of the Bacchus Hotel. In 1937 the club changed its name to Sutton on Sea Bowling Club.
In 1938, the then Vice President, Mr Harry Hames, gifted the club a new green sited where it is now in Willoughby Road.
Mr Hames, at his own expense, laid out the land as a bowling green and provided a club house.
